Mission and Firm Background
Your business world is changing…and fast. Our firm is dedicated to being a flexible, creative business partner and advisor. We work in front, alongside and behind the scenes with individuals, firms, and companies to provide the best advice and guidance in the ever-changing business environment. We are at times hired-guns for important deals. We are at other times long-term strategists providing “outsourced/in-house” counsel to businesses and key employees who need strategies that last a lifetime. Business owners, key executives, sports figures, and artists who need more tailored and day-to-day assistance with their businesses also utilize our “family office” services.
The firm’s reputation and clientele has been built around providing independent, innovative, and forward-thinking strategies with forward-thinking advice tailored and unique to the situation and client. The firm maintains a selective practice, which includes nationally and internationally recognized clients in the various businesses including real estate, banking, venture capital, music, entertainment, film, television, radio, advertising, and sports industries. Asset protection for clients can include expertise and advice on wills and trusts, business succession planning, non-profit formation, and charitable giving plans.
The firm’s principals have entrepreneurial, tech, media, and sports-related backgrounds as well as extensive experience in tax, commercial real estate, and intellectual property.
The firm originated in 1996 under Derek Crownover, P.C. and was active through Derek Crownover’s tenure as a partner with Hall, Booth Smith and Slover, P.C. until 2007. It then became Crownover, Tisinger, P.C. when Derek Crownover and Joel Tisinger exited the larger firm to form a boutique intellectual property and corporate practice. In the meantime, Allen Blevins, a colleague of Derek Crownover’s in law school, was building a 3-lawyer firm in Knoxville that focused on wills and trusts and commercial real estate named Blevins, Hundson and Gammeltoft. He left that firm to establish a commercial real estate company and later joined our firm in 2009. In 2010, Joel Tisinger, left for an in-house healthcare tech company in his hometown of Carrolton, Georgia and the firm name changed in 2011 to Crownover, Blevins, P.C.
